FROM THE CONSISTORY OR COUNCIL

We welcome all visitors worshiping with us today. May God’s name be exalted as we worship together. The order of our worship service is printed on the back of the bulletin.

Due to the busyness of this past week, a pulpit exchange has been arranged for the second service today. Rev. Engelsma will be preaching here, and our pastor will be preaching at Doon PRC. We welcome Rev. Engelsma to our pulpit and fellowship.

CONCERNING THE CONGREGATION

Allyn Brummel is asked to write to Gary Brummel and Brad Van Der Zwaag to Derick Grimm.

We rejoice with Aaron and Kristen De Jong who were blessed on Thursday with the birth of a baby boy, Darren Luke. Kristen and Darren are both doing well, but Darren needs about 5-7 days of antibiotics. He is currently at Avera McKennan Hospital. They expect he will likely come home early this week. We thank God for the wonderful gift of another covenant child.

We express our sympathy to Bart and Jan Zandstra and their family in the death of Bart’s brother, Chuck Zandstra, who had a sudden heart attack and died on Friday. May our Father in heaven comfort their hearts in their sorrow.

We rejoice with Cody and Mariah Hoekstra (nee Oostra) who were united in marriage this past Friday. May the Lord richly bless their marriage that it may reflect that of Christ and His church.
Men’s and Ladies’ Societies will have their first meeting on Sept. 15. The Christian Fellowship Society will have their first meeting on Sept. 22.

The Young People’s Society will have their annual business meeting next Sunday after the morning service.

The new RFPA book, The Reformed Baptism Form by Dr. Bastiaan Wielenga has been placed in the fellowship hall. Wielenga was a prominent minister in the Reformed Churches in the Netherlands (GKN), a son of the Afscheiding and a student of Herman  Bavinck. This commentary was originally published in Dutch in 1906 and is now translated for the first time into the English language. Professor David Engelsma, editor of the book, writes: “The great worth of this book is that it is the translation into English of a thorough, penetrating, sound commentary on the historic, inestimably rich Reformed baptism form.” The faith of every believer concerning the sacrament of baptism will be expanded and enriched by this commentary.
