FROM THE CONSISTORY OR COUNCIL

We welcome all visitors worshiping with us today. May God’s name be exalted as we worship together. The order of our worship service is printed on the back of this bulletin.

This morning we celebrate the Lord’s Supper. Supervision is exercised over the sacrament, so that only those who are members of our congregation in good standing or those who have received special permission from the Consistory are allowed to partake of the sacrament. May we be made worthy partakers of the supper of our Lord.

The sermon this evening will be an applicatory sermon.

The Consistory at its meeting last Tuesday granted the requests of Steve and Beth Potjer and their son Brad (Hope, Redlands) to partake with us of the Lord’s Supper this morning. We welcome them to the table of our Lord.

Byron PRC has agreed to take the spiritual oversight of Jared Zandstra while he is living in Michigan. May the Lord bless him among the saints there.

CONCERNING THE CONGREGATION

David King is asked to write to Gary Brummel and Christina Kooiker to Derick Grimm.

This past Friday afternoon our heavenly Father took our beloved sister, Tricia Brummel, to be with Him in heavenly glory. Her decline was very sudden, but now she dwells freed from sin with our Lord and the innumerable multitude that is with Him. We express our sympathy to Lane, the children, and all the Brummel family. May our Father in heaven comfort them, drawing them and us all ever nigh unto Him. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. (John 14:3)

We express our sympathy to Jeff and Jodi Baker and their children in the death of Jeff’s grandmother, Bertha Baker, who died Thursday morning. May our Father in heaven comfort their hearts also by His Spirit.

Braxton Kooiker was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester on Friday night when he was complaining of having severe abdominal pain. Tests so far have come back normal, but they decided to keep him there for observation. He is expected to be released today. While at St. Mary’s Hospital, Catherine was not feeling well. She has been diagnosed as having a UTI and is in the process of being admitted. Let us continue to remember them also in our prayers.

Marie Brummel was released from the hospital and is now living at Pleasant Acres. Let us continue to remember her and her family in our prayers.

Thank you for the many cards, prayers, and food on our behalf. We have experienced the concerns when one member suffer affliction, all share. Thanks to Rev Laning for his visits. We had a good report this Wednesday. The chemo seems to be working well. Another 6 sessions is recommended.  But we will take one at a time, as the Lord gives strength. We covet your prayers!  Ps. 130:5 I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in His word do I hope. – Henry & Hillie Hoekstra

The congregation is invited to attend the marriage ceremony of Brandi Oostra and Jason Boone this Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. in our church.
